Most of you know I’m a mathematics enthusiast and I regularly go to Pat Ballew’s superb blog. Today was the 59th day of the year and he posted a magic square with 59 as the center. Each row, column and diagonal adds up to 177. I decided to have a little fun and with Little d's help design my own grid with these numbers.
Here’s a little more on the squares.

I remember doing these at school, although if memory serves the numbers were much smaller, as were the totals for the columns, rows etc. Maths however was never my strong point.
(and today for some reason my wordpress OpenID won't let me comment!
Interesting, David. Never knew about this. But then I know very little about Math.
Alan, most in school are relatively small as I remember.
Prashant, I appreciate that you even take the time to comment on my math posts. :) Oh, according to Wikipedia, magic squares were known to Chinese mathematicians as early as 650 BC.
Thanks, Oscar!
