Two Sentence Tuesday

I just finished reading The Lawman by Robert J. Randisi, a western tale that clips right along at breakneck speed. I’ll be heading back to the store to pick up, the first title in this remarkable series, Double the Bounty, recently reviewed by Bookgasm.

Two thrilling lines from The Lawman:

He staggered back, clutching his throat as blood continued to pour from his mouth, and then he fell over. Decker picked up his gun and walked over to where Ramon was lying, Jose close behind him.

I'm reluctant to follow on the heels of Randisi with my two lines, but I'll couch it in the fact that it's a work in progress:

A black and blue goose-egg swelled on Shorty’s forehead and blood had begun to cake around it. He came to, mumbling, his body stiffened when he felt the hard steel of Laramie’s colt on his forehead.

The ladies at WOM have more Tuesday thrills.

*A friendly reminder that Wild West Monday is fast approaching. I will have western themed posts for the remainder of the week heading into WWM.

*Don’t forget to check out Short Barrel Fiction leading the way with some new yarns from Susan McQueen and Corinne J. Brown.

You are so ahead of the game! I hadn't even thought about my two lines yet! I like yours, makes me want to know what he's going to do, and what he's done to deserve the situation he's in.

westerns are such a great read, this sounds awesome.

Crystal, Shorty is a patsy who is ill-fated to say the least. Our protagonist is shaking him down for info.

Josh, You mentioned that you wanted to read more and THE LAWMAN is an excellent place to start. Randisi is a superb storyteller and his adventures are fast paced.

I'm doing a lot of western reading at the moment myself.

I haven't read a western in years so I will check into The Lawman. My hubby and I watched 3:10 to Yuma last night which was explosive fun. Have you seen Appaloosa yet?

Cool, Westerns. I'm grabbing my boots and hunkering down.

Charles, You have to check out these Randisi paperbacks. It's an explosive punch of fresh writing.

Diane, The remake of 3:10 TO YUMA along with TOMBSTONE is my pick for the best westerns of the last twenty years.

Clare, Hunker, hunker!

Eastwood's Unforgiven trumps 3:10 to Yuma and the Deadwood series is hands down the best western of the last hundred years.

agree about Deadwood

Love the Western-themed posts and definitely want to check out some Randisi now.

Would you ever be game for a short review of "Police Band" over on my blog? That would be really cool. :)

RReynolds, UNFORGIVEN is deservedly an acclaimed western but I feel slightly overlong and a tad overrated. DEADWOOD is a fine series but the last hundred years?!

Archavist, Talking about DEADWOOD reminds me I need to buy it on DVD. I watched the shows on HBO but I would like to collect them.

Chris, I would like to but it's a question of when. Maybe after I'm completed with the entire Crime Stories I will do a review... I appreciate the offer.

That sounds like one nasty black eye, and then to get whomped on the head again. Ouch!

My own two sentences aren't as descriptive as yours.

I've probably read books by Randisi before. I understand he does a lot of stuff under other names. But I don't think I've read any with his name on them. The Lawman and Double The Bounty look interesting.
I seem to read more westerns these days than anything else. Thanks for the heads-up.

wow. just read that, like three weeks ago. currently tucking into BR's BLACK HATS anthology.

Barbara, I always learn something from the sentences you post. I'm really looking forward to publishing "A Stash of Goods" in two weeks.

Randy, It may sound cliche but Randisi delivers a rip roaring page turner. I'm hearing there's more books in this series coming out.

Kieran, I'm not too familiar with the BLACK HATS anthology. Let me know what you think.
