There are some excellent French Maigret series and movies out there. Those with Jean Gabin and Pierre Richard in the title role come particularly to mind. Great little books though. Excellent way to learn French...

I MUST watch the Gambon show now as I've been a fan of Maigret for many, many years. And that bio they mentioned sounds like a rip roaring look back.
