2017 In Which

I plan to publish books by Court Merrigan, Glenn Gray, Nik Morton, Eric Beetner, and Kyle J. Knapp to name a few ... continue reviewing for Macmillan, a part-time job I enjoy immensely (what's better than getting paid to review books, right?) ... lose a few pounds ... finish two novellas of my own: The Honorable Killer and Me & Creature ... walk a mile a day ... study mathematics ... get back to reading the newspapers ... listen ... and more family activities, great and small.

You? What's on your agenda?

Looks like you have some solid plans there David, and some great authors, including your good self.

Happy New Year to you.

Hope to add a few more to the list, Alan. And Happy New Year!

I love it that a man way past school years has "study mathematics" on his yearly to do list. You last item is on my personal list, too.

As for the professional list: day job - stay employed. Writer list: write a lot more and sell a lot more.

I'm a card-carrying math nerd, Scott. I have to train myself not to daily publish some little numerical factoid of this or that I've run across.

David, I plan to meditate more often than I did last year, and continue to eat healthy and walk a lot. Meditation is a wonderful tonic. I hate to come out of it. I also want to read and review more books and publish a story or two.

I'll have to leave the meditation to you, Prashant, but I will certainly join you on the walks and eating healthier. Or trying to eat healthier. I always start out good and then lose my way mid-year.

I guess I should start thinking about what I want to do with the new year.

I plan on making another zero-budget movie nobody will ever watch and write at least two more novels. There's also the little issue of raising funds to start a pulp magazine similar to Pulp Modern, though that's a bit down the road.

Some serious lofty goals you got there, and I'm sure you'll be more than able to accomplish them all (and them some). Me, my goal is simple: publish a story. I average one per year and I'm currently on pace to do so (finishing up a 1st draft sometime this month).

Oh yeah, polishing up my best Al Bundy impersonation since my Kelly (aka Jenelle) is starting....to....date.

My plans for 2017 seem like small potatoes compared to yours. But, if all goes well, they will take me in a new direction, one I am looking forward to with nervous anticipation.
