Beginning September 6, I’ll be doing a reread of Stephen
King’s THE DARK TOWER I: THE GUNSLINGER (first published in 1982, significantly
revised in 2003) for Macmillan’s Criminal Element blog. This will a be a
chapter a week review (every Tuesday) and it’s a whole lot more fun if I can
get some other readers involved—if you don’t have a copy I’m sure most
libraries carry one. I will do a write-up of each chapter and in the comments,
hopefully, you can add to my piece with your own thoughts.
There’s a 2017 film on the way starring Idris Elba as
Roland/The Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black who Roland
pursues. So the reread is a good way to get on board and re-familiarize
yourself with the story
.

Those are some good casting choices, there. Looking forward to reading these. 'The Gunslinger' was a college favorite.
I've been meaning to re-read the series for a while now, so no time like the present. I'll join you via the comments David.
David, I have never read Stephen King. I don't know why. THE GUNSLINGER seems like a good place to start. I will also enjoy your chapter-wise review much better. Should I be looking for the original or the revised edition?
Love to have your take on my write-ups, Garnett.
tontonwilliams, excellent! Thank you. The comments will be on the Criminal Element blog and I will have a link here to direct you over when the time comes.
Prashant, Cool! Glad you are on board. Revised but if you are working off an original it would be interesting to note any significant differences.
I love that cover.
All these covers are sharp.
Good post.
