The Roots of Creativity

After a long day of work, I've come to enjoy painting with my three-year-old daughter. It's a relaxing pastime that we both enjoy and I marvel at her progress over the last year. Quite often she paints houses with her family in them with the sun in the sky. And she always signs her paintings, sometimes with a heart next to her signature.

Meanwhile I usually create a standard-looking tree and grass with the occasional bird flying past. She liked watching me paint my various trees and decided to make this very artistic-looking tree of her own. I love the fact she went in her own inspired direction.

David, your little girl is a born artist. I marvel at how kids are so naturally good at drawing and painting. You can see the concentrated joy in their faces as they indulge in their pastime. It's a great way to spend time alone or together.

Sheila, and may she always have that unique direction!

Prashant, I always remember the Picasso quote that goes, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."

I have some great memories of my kids sitting around the dining room table painting and drawing. I always loved to see what they created. This drawing is exceptional for a 3 yr old. Love it!!

This is great. I still have folders stuffed with art Sid made when he was small.

Chris, I know my mom kept a majority of my doodles over the years. It's just something us parents do, right? We were recently visiting one of my sisters and she hung like thirty of Ava's paintings all over the wall. Like a professional art gallery!

Well done, Ava! My artist mom got me painting early too. You're a great dad.

Ava said thank you, Sarah. As do I!
