This is just one of many shelves in my office. A mere drop in the ocean of books around there. The top shelf holds most of the Ace Double crime novels, though the most famous one is a couple of shelves down in the middle. Most of the rest is a sort of hodge-podge. I know what's there, even though it's all double-shelved.
Bonus: Bill performing with The Fabulous G-Strings.

I see some sleaze there, Bill,
Nah, couldn't be.
I'm happy for Bill and a little envious too. To be able to just smell those vintage books. How do you take care of them, Bill?
Prashant, I bet Bill has a team of Cottingley Fairies come every morning before dawn and individually cleans them.
I bow to the Great Bill. Wow! I can only dream of one day having such a wonderful collection.
I don't see any George Elliot. I thought you had a complete collection. No Anthony Trollope either. For heaven's sake I don't even see any Faulkner! I'm shocked.
Wish the picture was BIGGER!
Now if that isn't a gorgeous sight.
Richard, By a smaller picture, Bill is preventing book ninjas from raiding his house.
I always enjoy seeing this photo, but I wish I could read all the titles. Richard's comment about not seeing any Faulkner made me laugh. Yesterday at a Friends of the Library book sale, I picked up a copy of Faulkner's Pylon and when I got home I wondered why. Now I know. It was a Signet 50 cents book from 1958 in a movie tie-in issue. The movie was The Tarnished Angels with Rock Hudson, Robert Stack, Jack Carson and Dorothy Malone and Rock and Dorothy are on the back cover. Think I'll go back to the sale today as everything is 50% off.
Bought a Faulkner movie tie-in PB of The Sound and the Fury for 25 cents at the sale today. This one has Yul Brynner with hair and Joanne Woodward on the cover. Does that now make make me a Faulkner/movie tie-in collector?
For 8 months I had a room in a friend's house like this with 2 walls of his books floor to ceiling. In the heart of LA, I never went to sleep at night without the thought that a good jolt would bring them all down on top of me.
That's a pile of readin'.
You know what's there. That's really all that matters. The rest is history. :-)
Greetings from London.
The one facing out is what I'm looking for to finish off one of my collections. The only ones I've ever found were in poor condition or too much was being asked.
I do have a 1981 Penguin copy inscribed to me personally by Bill.
