My Futurist Travels

I have seen the future--May 1st to be precise--and Anthony Neil Smith's YELLOW MEDICINE is released on Kindle.

Being a devious time traveler, I swiped myself a copy and am enjoying it immensely. But then again, I knew I would because I've published Neil Smith at BEAT to a PULP and love his unique style.

In other time-tripping news there is a fab new site that will feature cutting-edge reviews, stories, blogs etc. It is within twenty-four hours of launching and I must say it will be a daily stop for me. Where? These ladies will have all the details mañana.

Last stop using my Wayback-style machine had me in mid-May for the newest Julius Katz and Archie novel by Dave Zeltserman. I'm half way through the latest adventure featuring Boston's finest suave PI and his two-inch rectangular-shaped piece of space-aged computer technology named Archie. Archie's real name is a eighty-four digit serial number but Julius keeps it simple and calls him Archie after Rex Stout's sidekick in the Nero Wolfe novels. If you haven't read Katz or Archie and don't time-trip then I'd recommend starting with these two short stories for $.99 featuring the unusual crime fighting duo.

So, what's in your future?

You're awesome, David!

Paul, I know Dave will pull the old proverbial rug out with the revelation of the killer.

Ah, shucks. I'm blushing, Clare. Seriously, this site will become the must stop.

This week is the release of The President's Vampire by Christopher Farnsworth, and I can't wait. The first book in this series, Blood Oath, was arguably my favorite, most fun read of 2010. I love this stuff!

Also, Woodrell's The Bayou Trilogy is out as well.

Meant to post this link too!

Chris, I checked the link and the vampire series by Christopher Farnsworth does look damn good. You may wanna also try Zeltserman's BLOOD CRIMES which I just finished and would recommend.

Sounds cool. I'll look into it.

Always nice to see you excited about something; you do it with such élan...What lies ahead for me is a big stack of TBR books and lots of summer reading time and blogging, just around the corner.

Do you take passengers?

David Cranmer said...

I see the same enthusiasm in you, Ron. And a TBR pile is like a mountain of chocolate or ocean of beer or, well, you get the idea.

Diane, You would have to ask Mister Peabody or Sherman. I'm just a passenger myself. I will place a good word for you though.

I'm reading Yellow Medicine right now and I'm lovin' it! I haven't been disappointed with any of Smith's work.

I have Zeltserman's BLOOD CRIMES on my kindle and can't wait to get to it. And I need to get moving on his others... so many books and so little time. What's a girl to do?

Sabrina, I missed MEDICINE the first time around but have read everything else Neil Smith has done. And agree, I'm never disappointed.

I'm beginning to think I just might be a armchair time-traveling chick.

I loved Nick of Time and am really enjoying your multi-author story (I can't pin down the title in my brain just now...)

That Julius and Archie novel looks like another winner. Thanks for the suggestion!

Funny cartoon! Thanks for the recommendations.

I've traveled back in time 5 years to read Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta - a fabulous YA about warring school kids and cadets in Australia. It won the Printz Award from ALA in 2009 and is a complex novel full of mystery with crossover appeal to adults.

In the future I'm looking forward to the next literary suspense novel by Maine author Paul Doiron: The Trespasser due out in June.

Simon Rip, Alyssa. And I'm glad you're enjoying them. Garnett Elliott has written our third installment that is coming up in July.

Sarah, I have a YA TBR pile and will add Melina Marchetta to the list. Some of my most enjoyable reads of the past few years have been yound adult novels.
