The heart of pulp – the cheap paper and glue product, the boiler-room atmosphere of authors cranking out novels on a weekly basis – may be dead, but the soul, ah, the soul – those fantastic stories of action, adventure, mystery – live on. And not solely at events such as PulpFest, where past pulp glory is continually redistributed.Finish reading Naomi Johnson's review at The Drowning Machine.
In Beat to a Pulp: Round 1, David Cranmer and Elaine Ash have made a dedicated and informed effort to keep flowing a font of new stories in the finest pulp tradition.

A pretty fantastic review, David. You and Elaine should be very proud of yourselves. And that's a pretty impressive line-up of writers.
Well done and Happy Halloween, dad-to-be!!
Must make you feel good, bud. Nothing like being recognized for hard-won achievement.
Waiting for my copy. Should be here any day now.
Mention what you think of SHUTTER ISLAND. Fun to watch along with another island thriller, GHOST WRITER, which I liked better.
hello again! Wonderful review. And... To tell the truth, Often i tortue myself thinking "What is pulp? What not?" Really, is a very important thing to me.
Said this, i must ask Ron one thing: The title of GHOST WRITER is a sort of pun? because is too easy do oe being Halloween
Deka, all my puns are unintentional.
Thanks Ron. Imust say the skill to make puns is somethng i like, taht's all ;)
I predict many more great reviews to come!
David, Happy Halloween to you as well. Dad-to-be! :)
Ron, So far the reviews are very flattering and the majority of the credit goes to the fab writers.
I have issue reviewing films because I am no longer a fan of the medium and even the best flick I see has to many warts.
Deka, If you can grab a copy of ROUND 1 Cullen Gallagher explains exactly what pulp fiction is.
Evan, So far, so good.
David, i feelvery bad, but 1-I'm waiting for TWO delayed paychecks. Then, i must see if remain something after paying the bills and eat (is a funny thing: if ypu don't eat, you die. A lot).
And then, i wish to purchase a certain book. But i only can get one. Decided what book a weeks ago.
But thanks for the clue ;)
I think this is a much liked book, David. The diversity in the stories is a real strength. I haven't read one that wasn't terrific.
'the finest pulp tradition'...that just sounds awesome! Congrats!
Deka, I understand. Times are tough everywhere and buying books (especially print) is a luxury many can't afford.
Patti, So far, so good. I've received quite a few private e-mails of folks that give it the thumbs up.
Alyssa, I liked that line as well. :)
