Thuglit

Make no mistake about it that Thuglit is as important to the world of webzines as Black Mask was to print. I'm very surprised and saddened to see them go and will keep my fingers crossed that it is not permanent.

It's before ten in the morning here but I raise a Sam Adams toast to you Mr. Robinson and crew, and say thank you.

David, I'll second that toast with a half gallon of Crown.

It feels damn good to make it into Thuglit though. That much I can tell you.

Mike, I see you have one in the last issue and I'm looking forward to reading it.

I never had a story that I thought was a perfect fit for Thuglit and I'm disappointed now I didn't just send something.

Definitely sorry to hear of that.

I wonder if the esteemed ThugLit crew has thought about turning the site over to a talented up-and-comer or even selling the site to a trusted person. An e-zine site is a small business. It takes time and money to run, and it's sad to see it just wind down to a non-functioning status. I put this out there for entreprenurial editors--if you'd give your eyeteeth to run a site like ThugLit, why not make a pitch to them? I have not run this idea past Todd, nor do I speak for him in any way. Nor am I interested in taking over Thuglit, myself! But there are other options than just shutting down a thriving site. There may be an unseen opportunity here for the right person or people. I'm just thinkin' and just sayin'...

Sad news and I hope it is not gone forever.

A thank you to all at Thuglit for providing such a fine webzine and to all the authors that penned such fine pieces. It will be missed.

Thuglit published my short story -The Hole-issue #31. I received a T-shirt with the Thuglit logo as payment...the first payment I ever got for a story. Very cool people at Thuglit.

Dan, They certainly are good folks. Todd sent us a story for BEAT to a PULP early on and I've always appreciated that early vote of confidence and support.

BTW thanks for stopping by.

I'm pretty disheartened to see Thuglit go....but it has been coming for awhile. As you know, David, running a zine is a tough gig, esspecially if you're a writer, too, and it can take it's toll if you don't learn to balance the two, and Todd walked that tight rope for five years.
But I am happy that Todd is going to be able to write more, spend more time with his budding family.....and who knows, the term he's using is 'hitatus', so Thuglit may very well rise again?

Keith, Yeah, maybe surprised was the wrong word to use. And I'm glad that he will have the extra time for writing and family. He deserves it.

Dan, I just clicked over to your site and will add your link on my blog roll.
