Pulp Extract: BOUNTY ON A BARON

Decker looked at the figure on the poster the sheriff handed him. Ten thousand dollars. He unfolded the poster and stared at the picture. The Baron had been plying his trade as a hired killer for more than seven years without ever having made a mistake that Decker knew of. He guessed that the old saying was never more true.

There's always a first time.

Good beginning. I wonder what was the mistake.

Deka, Read this and you will fall in love with westerns. Guaranteed.

David, I'm slowly but surely getting into Westerns and I'll be interested in getting this one. Recently read a couple of Louis L'Amour novels that I got from the library. Quality reads.

Thanks for the info.

Looks like a classic. Saddle up. What are you waiting for?

I like the tone; it has attitude. We've come a long way from THE VIRGINIAN.

David, You have certainly started with the right author. I would also recommend, besides Randisi, the work of Loren D. Estelman, Ed Gorman, and my good friend Matthew P. Mayo.

Sarah, I've done read that one ma'am. :)

Ron, Without a doubt.

I remember these under a different author.

The great thing about Bob's westerns is that they move at such a clip that they are hard to put down. Genre expectatons get swatted aside by perfect deatil and dialogue.

Geoff, If you follow the WFR link you will see the original covers. It was under Joshua Randall like the McQueen character in Wanted: Dead or Alive.

Kieran, Agreed. Swift, masterful reads.

Those are the covers I remember from years ago. I have read Double The Bounty and The Lawman. Very well written series.
