Great, great tune! Have you heard the twangin' Duane Eddy version?

I love listening to this and the memories it brings back. Thanks, David.

Evan, Big fan here of Mr. Eddy. His version of the Peter Gunn theme is remarkable. But the twangin' in Paladin is a bit much for me. Still worth a listen and many Country fams would disagree with me, I'm sure.

Barbara, You bet!

I've started getting into the show ever since you first mentioned it, as the Western channel has been showing the uncut versions M-F.

Interesting that the singer used a psuedonym for his name: Johnny Western.

Very cool. Thanks.

Wouldn't watch this show when I was a kid, but in the last year I watched the first season - great show!

G, Glad you are enjoying it. Some elements are dated but overall the writing and Mr. Boone's acting are timeless. I haven't checked but I believe Western may actually be his real name.

Leah, Cool indeed.

Naomi, I never watched the reruns as a kid either and only in the last ten years have become a fan. Growing up it was GUNSMOKE and THE BIG VALLEY.

Very much a singing cowboy kind of tune. It brings back some memories for sure.

I really need to get off my ass and start watching this. Or get ON my ass and start watching it, as the case may be.

First I have to get over Boone's portrayals of despicable villains in HOMBRE and THE TALL T.

I sure did love that show. I only got to stay up late enough to watch it occasionally but it was a treat.

That is a great ballad! Who sings that? I kept imagining how great Christmas carols would sound in his voice. :)

I need a snappy business card like that! Little bit different career though...

Johnny Western is still performing, and still singing the Ballad of Paladin." Or at least he was within the past year--I heard him sing Paladin on a radio broadcast of the Grand Ole Opry.

Charles, Shows today (and maybe many folks are thankful) have gotten away from the long intro. I happen to like them.

Chris, My suggestion would be to start with HGWT, GUNSMOKE, or WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE.

Ron, I was first intoduced to him trying to kill the Duke in THE SHOOTIST.

Alyssa, I think you would make a fine gun for hire. You sould really think it over.

Darrell Smith, Thanks for the update and how cool is it to think Mr. Western is still out there performing.

Sorry.

I just had to make this comment, as while I was reading the comments, an actual word popped up for verification.

And considering this blog is more or less about the western genre, it fits like a glove.

My word verify is "horses".

Yep, I've had a few interesting word verifications myself. I'm wondering if they protect against profane words? Wouldn't it be a hoot if F@#k you, popped up.
