The Iron Mask (1929)

I borrowed THE IRON MASK Starring Douglas Fairbanks from my mother-in-law, enjoyed it, and discovered it on the always reliable YouTube. MASK was Fairbank's last silent film and a sequel to 1921's The Three Musketeers. This version includes an introductory prologue spoken by Fairbanks, original subtitles deleted and 1952's narration voiced by Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. added.

I love these old movies, and it's nice to see Douglas Fairbanks again as a younger man.

I've actually always had a hard time watching old movies. I kind of hate myself for that but what are you gonna do?

Barbara, And at one time, long before Clark G, he was known as "The King of Hollywood."

Charles, For me, it's fun to watch the techniques they used to make these silent films. Plus, when I watch Fairbank's movies I'm enjoying the fact he does his own stunts and was closing in on fifty during the making of MASK.

I'd agree, D. Filmmakers can learn a great deal by watching early masters.

Ironically, (no pun intended), Kyle and I watched that same movie on PBS one day a couple of weeks ago. We were both amazed at how mezmerized we were. It wasen't what we would have sought out to watch, but we couldn't take our eyes off it. Kyle had never seen that old a movie, he loved it.

I liked watching this because I've never seen a Fairbamks movie but I've heard the name. My only question is why do all four Musketeers sleep together? Funny but oddball scene.
