Donald E. Westlake

I dropped by Bill Crider's site and was floored by the news of Donald Westlake's passing. Of all his work, the Richard Stark novels are among my favorites and I'd be hard pressed to pick just one at the top of the list as I've never read a bad book from Westlake. He has left behind an incredible legacy and it goes without saying, he will be missed.

When people we admire pass away the best thing to do is remember the things they did best. Donald E. Westlake wrote mysteries and science fiction. We can reread those stories he penned, enjoy them and remember how the words inspired us. I remember his Starship hopeful stories, at least the first two and they were delightful with just the right amount of humour. I'm going to his website and see what Mr. Westlake had posted while paying my respects.

Barbara, I still have a lot of Westlake books to read and for that I'm very happy. I know it may sound strange (maybe not) but the older I get 75 doesn't sound that old.

Archavist, I've read on Ed Gorman's site, Westlake has a book coming out in April. His output was amazing right up till the end.
