Hello, Goodbye

Ava waving to the good folks in Tysons Corner, Virginia. At that moment, I was playing Billy Joel's Greatest Hits and the lyrics "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes" seemed to be timed perfect.

Under The Bridge

The Ravenel Bridge, an impressive cable-stayed bridge, spans the Cooper River east of Charleston, South Carolina. Running underneath along the east end of the bridge is a hidden gem of a park with historical markers and a war heroes monument, a children's playground that Ava approves of, a snack shop and gift store, and a long pier where I snapped this picture of my charmers today.

Somewhere in Time

Grandma Sheila labeled the photo, "Somewhere in Time"
You know, the one of you and me standing along Fall Creek
Did she snap the pic, Kyle?
I really can't remember
I’m guessing I was home on leave from the Army
And you must have been, what, about seven years old?
Damn, look how young we were
And, no, I won’t allow myself to be sad
‘Cause I can hear you saying
“Those days will come again,
They were eternal, after all…”

Photo-Finish Friday -- Shelby GT500

My buddy JD gave me one helluva ride in his 2009 Shelby. Awesome vehicle. Yeah, I want one.

Photo-Finish Friday -- Basic Training Gradution

This is my Army basic training graduation from eighteen years ago. That's my dad in the red flannel shirt watching and my mom in the long jacket. I'm directly in front of my dad with the private first class on my shoulder. My parents were so proud of this moment and it brings tears to my eyes looking at this old photo.

Photo-Finish Friday -- Smoke 'n Paint

My Charmers and I were driving in the countryside when I saw these two horses that could have passed for the steeds of my heroes.

Hope everyone has a fun-filled weekend.

Photo-Finish Friday -- Deer Photos

These two we're fenced in the backyard last week. The mother jumped out but the little one had trouble following. He made an attempt with a running start but backed out at the last moment--that fence was just too high for him. So the mom bounced back in and walked her little one to the far end of the yard out of our sight. I checked later and both had made it out successfully. Wish we had seen how they did it.

Hope everyone has a terrific weekend.

The Fox

This fox shows up in our backyard each evening looking for dinner which he usually finds. He moves so fast I haven't been able to get a clear photo.

My Current Waterloo

The picture didn't come out as well as I hoped but I assure you the strawberries covered with white chocolate that Little d made tasted sinfully delicious. And I can fool myself these are somewhat healthy as I down them left and right. What is your current guilty pleasure in the food department?

Photo-Finish Friday -- Highway to Kribi

Mr. Boh and me goofing around along the highway from Yaounde to KribiI worked in Cameroon from 2004-2005 and aside from learning so much about the culture in this part of Africa, I became good friends with Boh Cyprain. This is a pic of us goofing around on the highway to Kribi.
