A wind shear knocked out our power, a week ago, and it was fully restored today. So a few catch-up links of what was happening while I was away include my article Modern Western Films Written Better Than Ever at LitReactor. And remember I told you I had more to say about MAN OF THE WEST? Well, here I am at the Western Fictioneers with an appreciation for the Gary Cooper film along with a new poem. Lastly, speaking of poems, Close to The Bone webzine announced that they will be featuring four of my poems in what they are calling the 4.4. Very honored to say the least.
Okay, now I will zip around your blogs and see what I've been missing.
Hard to be without internet access in these times. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteWill do, and you as well. Best to your family.
ReplyDeleteDavid, thanks for the reviews of the five Westerns over at Lit Reactor. I will be watching all five as soon as I get to. I recently saw "True Grit" again and enjoyed it as much as I did the first time, though I still have to watch the John Wayne version. I hope Hollywood continues to make Western films. Gary Cooper goes on my "watch" list, too, mainly because I have hardly seen his movies, which is a shame.
ReplyDeleteWith Cooper, I'd begin with HIGH NOON. The definitive Western and Coop's best role. Then MAN OF THE WEST which is brilliant but less iconic. You will find the TRUE GRIT remake (which I prefer) is filmed very similar to the original. Hey, thanks for reading my article at LitReactor, Prashant. Very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteDavid, thanks for mentioning the Gary Cooper films. I will try and watch MAN OF THE WEST this weekend.
