There is still one small design element to finish, but this is it -- the cover to
BEAT to a PULP: Round One. We couldn't be more excited about the outstanding artwork by James O'Barr and sensational cover design by John Bergin. Click on it to enlarge.
Is that...is that...Rocky Marciano on the cover? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Forward my mail to the hills. Just ran for them...
ReplyDeleteThat's very cool.
ReplyDeleteOscar, I'm not sure, you would have to ask Mr. O'Barr. But Marciano was my dad's favorite boxer.
ReplyDeleteRon, Ha. I know what you mean.
Geoff, We're very happy with it.
Wow. Just... wow. The image, the text, the weathering to make it look all classic-like... I've got some full-on object lust for this anthology right now.
ReplyDeleteOh, and my word verification for this comment? "Terse." Methinks the gods of pulp would approve.
Yeah, heh? Now that's a hot covah. I need me a copy of that antho, right off quick!
ReplyDeleteWell done!
Cheers,
Matt
just plain shit hot.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI was going for some sort of verbal analogy to how friggin' cool this cover is...and I'll just second Kieran's comment.
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone is digging it. Two things of many that I like about this cover -- one is the referee casually having a smoke and the other is that even though it's titled Round One the guy on the mat looks like he ain't gettin' up anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteThe colors compliment each other nicely.
ReplyDeleteVery kewl.
ReplyDeleteLooks like one of those MMA fighters, but a bare knuckle throwback will do just as well.
Great cover, and one heck of a line up.
ReplyDeleteG, Yes it has a nice past and present feel to it.
ReplyDeleteNaomi, I wish I had room for everyone on the cover because each story in this collection packs a wallop.
Great cover! I look forward to seeing the book.
ReplyDeleteWell doesn't that kick butt.
ReplyDeleteGreat Cover! After all the other superlatives, that's about all I could come up with.
ReplyDeleteLike It.
Fantastic, David! I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteKeith, Right back at you with the current CF issue and next year's print edition!
ReplyDeleteThe referee's cig is a nice touch. Congratulations on a super cover.
ReplyDeleteJim
That's a fantastic cover.
ReplyDeleteJames, I'm sure glad you like it and thrilled you are on board.
ReplyDeleteooooh, I like.
ReplyDeleteFantastic cover, super artwork and an awesome lineup of talented writers.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all who are involved with this project - it really looks the business.
Beats the hell out of any competition! Great stuff.
ReplyDeleteThat's the dogs b******s!!! Very gritty looking. You must be very pleased with the finished product, David. Congrats to all involved.
ReplyDeleteRelease dates??
Once again, Elaine, dMix, and I are glad the cover is being so well received.
ReplyDeleteDavid, I was shooting for August but it may slip into September. We're working hard toward this but the main priority is to get it right.
I'm floored. This is an amazing cover. Great work.
ReplyDeleteAwesome artwork! Brutal and pulpy feel for sure...Congrats.
ReplyDeleteMe and Kieran talked it over, and we think you should sell T-shirts of that bad boy. Great publicity, and I know of two sales you'd have right now...
ReplyDeleteChris, I agree and am going to begin looking into this.
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome.
ReplyDeleteI wanna f-ing T-shirt!
ReplyDeleteHilary was able to post a fan page on facebook for Beat to a Pulp with the cover on it. That should get it some added attention in the month before it arrives. People have already indicated they are fans. Hard to explain if you're not on there. I am on there and I don't quite get it!
ReplyDeletePatti, That's fantastic! I will write to Hilary and thank her. We are overwhelmed with all the kind words and attention.
ReplyDeleteI really need to get off my arse and join Facebook.
Out of the ballpark, my friend.
ReplyDeleteGeoff
Cooool. And I'm lovin' the ref with the cigarette dangling.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the BTAP crew.
Go away for a few days and look what I missed! If the artist would go for it, I second the T-shirt idea --or maybe a limited poster run.
ReplyDeleteI'm persuaded!
ReplyDeleteDave, I hope so. There is a little for everyone in Round One.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm late to comment, but just had to add how awestruck I am by the cover. It's truly amazing!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, as Patti mentioned, Beat to a Pulp now has a fan page on Facebook. You know you want to join:

Love the idea of a T-shirt.
