I posted my Elvin tribute late last night and now have found out we have lost Hank, the eldest and sole surviving brother of the three Jones boys of Pontiac. RIP.
Todd, Yeah, that floored me. I was listening to The Great Jazz Trio just the day before his death thinking of Elvin, decided to post the first video. Walker Martin then left a comment there that he had died.
These brothers really personified the very best of Jazz.
That is beautiful piano playing.
ReplyDeleteDiane
He makes it sound as easy as falling down stairs.
ReplyDeleteHe sure does, that's poetry on the keys.
ReplyDeleteSad to hear. Very nice music.
ReplyDeleteDang, that's a tough loss. Such a nice touch. His playing on Cannonball Adderley's Something Else is untouchable. He will be missed!
ReplyDeleteChris, And he was the piano player as Marilyn Monroe sang happy birthday to JFK.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize HJ's death was so close to the annivesary of EJ's. Wow.
