Hard Bite Announcement

Almost a year ago I read “Killer Orgasm” by Anonymous-9 over at Yellow Mama and left a fan comment. Since then we have become good friends and have corresponded continually and, of course, she supplied me with "Hard Bite" which just won Spinetingler’s Best Short Story on the Web. Anyway, almost a month before the Spintingler win, she expressed interest in finding a co-writer for the novel version of "Hard Bite." I started throwing out names of writers who would be suited to the project and she very politely rejected each one until practically reaching through the phone, knocked me over the head, and said “David, I’m talking about working with you on this.” Needless to say I was honored to be offered the opportunity and beginning a few days ago started some preliminary research on the east coast—while on the west, A-9 began knocking out that incredible hardboiled prose that she’s known for.

I'm thrilled to be a part of "Hard Bite" the novel, and if any agents are reading this with interest, please go ahead and drop us a line.

  1. Sadly I'm not an agent, but if I were I'd totally sign y'all!

Best wishes on the collaboration and please keep us updated on the novel's progress! It sounds exciting and I can't wait to read it.

  2. Collaborations, to me, bring the best out of both writers. Great pairing!

  3. Cullen, I will report back on the developments periodically.

Scott, I think it's a good pairing but if worse comes to worse one of us will kill the other and move on.

Patti, When will we see a Patti/Megan collaboration? Or has there already been one?

  4. Just read "Killer Orgasm" and having finished "The Education of a Pulp Writer" yesterday I know this new novel will be excellent. Good luck but who needs it with all this talent.

Dave, when is your next short story coming out?

  8. Excellent!

Moving up in the world I see.

    A ahort story writer.
    A blogger.
    A e-zine editor.

And now we can add to the list, a co-author.

Looking forward to the end result.

  11. Hi everybody! Thanks for all the encouragement. David and I are starting with a detailed outline that is quickly growing story tentacles like an octopus.

I am hoping to start the novel in first person to preserve the urgency of the short story and segue into third person for other characters. Whenever I switch POV to the main character I'm hoping I can go back to first person.

I don't have a novel in mind that does it successfully, and really am not sure if it will work.

Anybody heard of doing this and having it work before?

  12. Cool, David!

Anonymous-9, I can't think of a title off the top of my head, but only because I know I've seen it way more than once or twice. It's definitely been used in thrillers, I can say for sure. The only one I can think of so far is a James Patterson (figures), but don't let that example dissuade you. I know I've read it elsewhere, too. It can definitely work!

Also, if you get a chance and don't hate horror, come over to Women of Mystery and add a comment to win a free novel. Normally, I don't pimp for visitation, but we don't always have free stuff to give away, and I want to make sure our blogpals get a chance at it!

    Also, free e-novella downloads.
