Never saw this video before. I like how the song builds with that loose structure, like "Stardust," Orbison's mournful voice, and the dream-like images from Blue Velvet. Thanks.
I became a fan of Orbison's music around the time of Blue Velvet or just after. When he became a Traveling Wilbury and all that madness that followed. And I agree the dream-like images from Velvet fit perfectly here.
I love Roy's music, but I will never be able to get beyond the first time me and my buddy in high school saw him for the first time, and both pointed and simultaneously yelled, "Doctor Octopus!" and then about died laughing. That's a Spiderman reference, for those of you of less geekishly-bent minds. . . .

ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan generally of slow music, but I make an exception for Orbison. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteHe had a moody, intense sound that just works.

ReplyDeleteOh, that's going to stick with me now as well, Chris. Too funny. All in the hair, right?
ReplyDeleteSister Sharon was IN LOVE with the Roy Orbison sound ...years ago. Brings back so many memories!
