Rhythmic Gyration

Patti recently posted Ann-Margret dancing from the film Viva Las Vegas and Rita Hayworth in the noir classic Gilda. My vote for this generation's most memorable rythmic gyration artist comes from a music video. Ms. Shakira in Whenever, Wherever. Who would be your pick?

She has got to be the favourite of all hot blooded males! I could watch Shakira gyrate those hips all day long....just don't tell the wife. :-)

P.s. the latest story up at BTAP is another cracker. Left William a comment over there.

Howsabout Salma Hayek in From Dusk Till Dawn?

Ann-Margret is the professional dancer, and thus easily wins IMHO the ass-shaking contest here. What a close-up! No wonder Elvis was smitten.

David, Well, now my wife knows. I posted the video. :)

Thanks for commenting on Bill's flash.

Jedidiah, For film clips (which I guess was what I was mentioning) you are absolutely right. I posted the Salma dance over at Gutter Books. Jessica Alba, from SIN CITY, is another.

Austin, I can't argue, sir. I've watched that silly movie many times and Ann-Margret was the only reason.

Yikes! They're all lethal, but I like this song best. Although... I much prefer the Spanish language version. Whatever it is Shakira's got, that version has more of it.

Sorry guys but I pick Johnny T in Saturday Night Fever or Pulp Fiction.

Yeah, Travolta would have to make the list of memorable film dance numbers. Of course, my pick would be with Uma in PULP FICTION. What's that dance called? The Batman?

Ah, Shakira. Good choice, Mr. Cranmer.

My only problem with her is she is only something like 4'11" tall. But whatever she lacks vertically she makes up for with those hips, I'd have to say.

all she wants to do is dance

What an out-of-the-box question! I'll go Beyonce in All The Single Ladies.

David Cranmer said...

Chris, Hips don't lie.

Charles, Yup, for sure.

Alyssa, I just watched the Beyonce video again. A strong case you make with that one.

Does Patrick Swayze count as this generation? I guess not.

David Cranmer said...

Hm. Well if we are including Travolta then I guess Swayze should make the cut.

Chris Farley in the Chippendale's bit, all the way.

i'm trying to post something but everything i come up with makes me sound like a swine.

can i redeem myself when i say i'm more of a laura linney fan, when she slow boogies alone and drizzles good wine all over her couch in THE BIG C?

David Cranmer said...

Farley and Swayze were a hoot in that SNL skit.

Kieran, Linney is a favorite of mine but I'm not sure I'd put her in the dance category.

I've never seen Scarlett Johannson dance, but having seen her walk, I'm guessing that would do it for me.

As I don't think anyone's mentioned, it's the Batusi. After the Watusi, of course.

Which somehow makes it necessary to mention Julie Newmar. I don't think the other Catwomen cat-danced much. But, then again, does Michelle Pfeiffer really HAVE to dance to place in this competition?

David Cranmer said...

Alec, Scarlett Johannson. Whew. You ain't kidding.

Todd, I like Pfeiffer but Ms. Newmar reigns supreme by much more than a cat whisker.
