Time To Make The Donuts

A quarter of a century later, I now know why my hard-working father laughed the loudest when this commercial first aired.

  1. I never saw this, but I don't know whether Dunkin Donuts was in Calif. when this aired. A great commercial - pretty much sums up our working life, huh?

  2. I remember this one well. Can't believe it's been 25 years. Thanks for the great memory.

  3. You are right – that commercial makes more sense now as an adult. I still remember enjoying it as a kid, the doughnut too. Fun blast from the past.

It’s good to hear you had that you had mostly smooth sailing. Will you blog about it?

  4. Laurie, Fred the Baker made a whole series of commercials but I'm sure this was the most famous.

Richard, well I met myself coming and going just like Fred and the commercial popped into the noodle.

Sarah, I hope so. We'll see. I have some pics for a My Town Monday and now it's a matter of typing some words.

Patti, Krispy Kreme is my choice.

  6. I miss that guy.

He used to do Breakstone's cottage cheese as well.

Factoid: Found a rap song called "Time to make the Donuts" by a group called Class A Felony. Pretty funny song.

  8. Cute - of course we didn't have DD in Canada then. I have heard there is a Krispy Kreme in Calgary though...have to make a 2.5 hour drive to get there and try them one day.

  9. Tina, whenever I’m in Europe I’m pleasantly surprised by the frank (and, of course, sharp wit) advertising of billboards and commercials.

G, I forgot about the Breakstone's cottage cheese ads. They were good also. And I will scour YouTube for Class A Felony’s tune.

Charles, Twenty-five years for that and probably just about the same amount for “Where’s the beef?” Classic advertising.

Reb, Krispy Kreme is hands down the best. You can hear your arteries clogging on the first bite.

  11. I don't think that you'll find it on YouTube.

The unfortunate thing (and I don't want to be a downer on this post) about the group was that they were one and done, not by choice, but by fate.

  12. Phoenix, Much thanks for stopping by.

G, You're right that they didn't make the Tube. I'm interested in the history if you find a link.

  13. David,

I found a couple of links, one of which is Amazaon:

    http://www.amazon.com/Class-Felony/dp/B000008ECE

And here is an informative blog post about them:

I may actually go search out that Amazon link and by the cd.

  15. Thanks G. I'd guess the reviewer's end take probably best sums it up : I wouldn’t go as far as to call the album a classic, but it’s an ill, lost album that should be heard.

Alyssa, It's best to look away, look away.
