Ha! You're probably right but honestly, who watches videos anymore? I posted it for the music which I believe is among the best of this "avant-groove" groups career.
The keyboards and drumming are happening but the video is so-so. The first part is somewhat ok but the band standing around looking meditative in the second half blows.
Well, I love the song. Great 6/4 groove. Really cool video, too. Pretty abstract but in a playful, almost self-mocking way. I liked it so much that I posted it on my Facebook!
Sometimes Medeski can get a little carried away with his keyboard playing but the piano in this piece is a breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteWow. That was like David Lynch, Philip Glass, and a bunch of other weirdness wrapped in one! Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleted, Normally I'm paying attention to Martin's drums but Medeski shines on this number.
ReplyDeleteChris, The vid is a little odd but if you enjoy the music of "Amber Gris" then I'm sure you will get a jolt from the rest of Radiolarians II.
I like a good drum number. But that video? Dude!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it because I've been playing "Amber Gris" for the past week non stop. Just a terrific groove.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff. For me it recalls Bach's "The Art of Fugue."
ReplyDeleteLiked that groove quite a bit. Stopped by the library this afternoon and picked it up. Donkey shine!
ReplyDeleteRichard, "The Art of Fugue." I will check that out. I dip into classical occasionally with Beethoven being my gateway.
ReplyDeleteScott, I would be interested in your critique of the CD. Track #1: "Flat tires" is another standout.
Excellent piano playing, David.
ReplyDeleteI picked up both I & II yesterday. Only a few tracks into I but really enjoying it. I might post about it on my blog.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, It sure is.
ReplyDeleteChris, I hope you review it. I haven't stopped listening for the last week and a half.
